Stayed at home today. ahah, very th siian, comp also use until dowan use. I was like switching th channels of my TV, & i came across this programme " 我们的大日子　”　LOL. They were showing a festival taking place in taiwan, about ma zu　；　“妈祖绕经”it takes place fr 7 days. Ma Zu is one of the god tht th taiwanese respects th most. There is a story behind Ma Zu. Ppl said tht a long time ago, thr is a man & his wife & children living near the sea. The man has to catch fish everyday to ensure tht his family wont starve. One night, the man went to work again. He was on th middle of the sea, when a thunderstorm broke out. The man quicky rowed his boat back. But it was alrdy late at night, he culdnt see the way well. Plus the heavy rain, his vision become mre blurred. Just at tht moment, a girl stood at th edge of the shore, holding a lamp & lifted it up high. The man saw th ray of light & followed the way to the light. Tht lamp, saved quite a number of ppl on the sea tht night. From that incident onwards, ppl believed tht tht girl can protect ppl going down to th sea safe, & named her Ma Zu. ok end of story. Back to th festival thingy. Ok, everyday, th temple of Ma Zu, is crowded. Alot of ppl believed in Ma Zu & came to pray quite frequently. But, though almost everyone believes in Ma Zu, but there are some ppl, who have their own reasons tht caused their unability to offer their rspects to Ma Zu. Maybe th temple is too far, or its nt convenient fr physically disabled ppl, or maybe elderlys. So this festival takes place fr 8 days 7 nights. Ppl put Ma Zu's statue onto a man made Sedan chair. & they will go round th village or city for 8 days 7 night without stopping. As they passed by every houses, ppl will get to offer their respects, even whn they are only outside their houses. Haha, nicee tradition.
